The cost of around R$2,5 at the end of the month on the electricity bill motivated rural producer Enedi Zanchet to follow the expansion of solar energy in the country and to invest in the photovoltaic source on his Timbaúba site, located in the community of São Luís, municipality of Arvoredo (SC).

According to the farmer, it will be another sustainable measure for the property, which already uses rainwater.

“It is clean energy and does not require exploitation of rivers and nature, an idea compatible with what I believe in terms of environmental preservation, which is why I chose solar energy. Brazil is a country abundant in natural resources, I still see some difficulties, mainly in adapting the electrical network with the concessionaire, the process should be more favorable and not difficult,” assesses Zanchet.

The photovoltaic project, prepared by Domuss Energia Solar, has 140 335 W polycrystalline panels and a 40 kW inverter, both Renovigi. The system is expected to produce 5.600 kWh monthly, providing energy for mechanical milking and the dairy cows' refrigeration system.

According to Domuss, energy production will be greater than consumption. This is because Zanchet has plans to increase the amount of equipment on the farm. “He will increase his energy consumption in the coming months as he will place four more engines on his farm”, says director Lucas Jose Frizon.

“If we carry out an analysis in one year, we will have a generation of 67.200 kWh, which will represent a saving of around R$35, that is, a worthwhile investment since the estimated payback is approximately 4 years”, adds Frizon .

The panels were installed on the roof of the compost barn, a type of confinement. Zanchet currently has 44 animals in the milking shed, which produces around 30 liters of milk per month. The farm's production, which runs from Monday to Monday, employs three families.
