A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) announced that 513,3 MW of electricity generation for commercial operation were released in February.

Of this total, there was an increase of 100 MW of photovoltaic plants and 346,57 MW of wind power. Both represent 87% of the February power increase.

According to the Authority, 48,73 MW in thermoelectric plants and 18 MW in small hydroelectric plants also came into operation.

Nine states in three Brazilian regions gained increases in energy generation this year. Bahia stood out, with 345 MW, Rio Grande do Norte, with 306,55 MW, and Paraná, with 152,80 MW.

Furthermore, the Authority highlighted that the quantity obtained this year, of 995,5 MW, is equivalent to 13% of the increase in the energy matrix expected for 2022, of 7.625,08 MW.

Capacity installed

Data from SIGA (Information Generation System) ANEEL) pointed out that, until March 1, the total inspected power installed in Brazil was 182.377,7 MW.

Of this total in operation, 83% of the plants are driven by sustainable sources, with low greenhouse gas emissions.

Solar and wind in the Northeast

According to a technical report, released by the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), solar and wind sources in the Northeast accounted for 45,5% in the 2020 generation matrix.

For the first time, according to the SPE (Secretariat of Energy Planning and Development), which belongs to the MME, such sources transformed the region from an importer to a net exporter of electrical energy.

“The new generation configuration in Brazil has modified exchanges between states and regions, providing a greater diversity of supply solutions,” said the SPE in a note.

Solar and wind occupy 2nd position in the matrix

Solar and wind sources registered a growth of 2,9% in the composition of the Brazilian energy matrix, together reaching 13,4% of the total supply, and occupying the 2nd position among the largest sources in the country, behind only hydro plants, which are responsible for 56,7%.

Matthew, I believe it is GC. If so, wouldn't it be interesting to highlight in the text?
