A generated energy by solar and wind plants not only is it relieving pressure on thermoelectric and hydroelectric plants, it is also helping the country earn a high income from exporting surplus energy to neighboring nations.

Only in 2023, about 844 average MW of electrical energy were sold to Argentina and Uruguay – this being the greater volume already accounted for throughout history, according to CCEE (Electricity Trading Chamber).

According to the entity, the production of electrical energy through photovoltaic and wind systems he was fundamental for the formation of a scenario energetic more favorable for export of surplus energy last year.

According to the institution's calculations, the benefit for Brazil reached R$ 888 million, money that will allow, among other factors, to reduce the impacts on Brazilian consumers' tariffs, which are proportional to the total exported.

The entire volume exported to Argentina and Uruguay in was done in two phases between January and December 2023. One of them corresponds to the export of energy obtained by generation from thermoelectric plants, in 354 average MW, of which 86% went to Argentina and 14% to Uruguay.

A operation generated a benefit of R$ 106 million, reversed in the tariffs paid by consumers, through flag accounts defined between the colors red, yellow and green.

A another part refers to hydraulic energy, which reached 490 average MW last year, with 77% for Argentina and the remainder for Uruguay, generating a benefit For the country of the order of R$ 782 million.
