O MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy) announced, this Friday (20), that it estimates expand the offer of centralized energy generation by 10.3 GW in 2023. Of this total, the solar plants and wind must answer for more than Magnification 92%.

The 10.3 GW will come into operation through 298 generating plants, located in 18 Brazilian states, with emphasis on Bahia (3,124 MW), Rio Grande do Norte (2,788 MW) and Minas Gerais (1,853 MW).

According to the Agency, this is the biggest growth since monitoring of the MME and the ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) in 1997.

“This is a highly positive scenario for Brazil, which continues to lead the global search for preserving the planet with the generation of clean energy, as our growth is based mainly on renewable sources. I believe that in the coming years this expansion will be even greater”, said Alexandre Silveira, Minister of Mines and Energy.

The MME also highlighted that, of the new solar photovoltaic and wind plants, 28% must be in the ACR (Regulated Contracting Environment).

Distributed generation

According to the Ministry, DG (distributed generation) is not far behind. In addition to the expansion of centralized generation, the expectation is that this year will see significant growth in DG, with investments made by consumers themselves and specialized companies.
