GNA, the German company SUNfarming and UENF (State University of Northern Fluminense) signed, last Wednesday (1st), during the Rio+Agro fair, an agreement for the implementation of an agro-solar plant in the Southeast. The partnership is supported by SEENEMAR (State Secretariat for Energy and Marine Economy).
The project, which will require an investment of R$15 million, will be installed at the Antônio Sarlo Agricultural Technical School in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro. The project will be made possible by the Energy Compensation Decree, signed into law by Governor Cláudio Castro in June of this year, which encourages investment in clean energy and job creation in the state.
The model will allow the simultaneous use of land for solar generation and agricultural cultivation, known as agrivoltaic systemThe plant is expected to have up to 1,5 MW of solar energy.
In addition to meeting its own energy needs, the facility will have a Training and Research Center in partnership with Brazilian and German institutions. The facility will focus on training in agricultural techniques, electricity, and the installation of photovoltaic systems, benefiting local communities.
"Rio de Janeiro is once again leading the way in innovation and sustainability. This agro-solar plant is a milestone because it combines clean energy, agricultural production, and professional training, demonstrating how sustainable development can be achieved responsibly," said Cássio Coelho, Secretary of Energy and Marine Economy.
For GNA CEO Emmanuel Delfosse, the project marks a new era for the company and the state. "It's a great pleasure to announce GNA's first solar project, as well as the first agro-solar project in the Southeast. This milestone reinforces our commitment to energy security and transition, while creating opportunities for local communities and promoting sustainable development in the North of Rio de Janeiro and throughout the state of Rio de Janeiro," he said.
