Around 40% of solar energy generated in Brazil comes from homes. This is what a survey carried out by the Canal Solar, based on data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), updated until the beginning of the morning of this Wednesday (21). Among the so-called consumption classes, Brazilian homes are currently the ones that produce the most of this type of energy, with 2.148,44 MW of installed power.
Furthermore, more than 90% of the country's cities (5.034 of 5.570) now have at least one home producing electricity from sunlight. In recent years, solar energy has become an increasingly common option for citizens who, in a scenario of economic crisis and reduced income, have found in Photovoltaics an effective alternative for reducing costs in the medium and long term.
It is no wonder that in the last three years, for example, the amount of solar energy produced by Brazilian homes has grown almost eightfold: jumping from 275,61 MW on April 21, 2018 to the current 2.148,44 MW of installed power, according to data from the company itself. ANEEL.
In addition to homes, Brazil also currently has a significant amount of solar energy produced by commerce (1.994,80 MW), rural producers (706,27 MW) and industry (453,80 MW). The choice of photovoltaic sources by government agencies (63,10 MW), public service entities (4,98 MW) and public lighting installed on streets and avenues (1,01 MW) also appears in the Agency's report.
Solar energy in Brazil
According to ANEEL, Brazil currently has 5.372,43 MW of installed solar power, with just over 457 thousand units of GD (distributed generation) operating in 5.282 thousand municipalities. Currently, of the 5.570 cities that make up the national territory, according to the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), only 288 do not have any photovoltaic system installed.
The cities of Brasília (DF), Cuiabá (MT) and Uberlândia (MG) are those that account for the largest solar energy generation in the country. The locations currently have: 70,38 MW; 67,40 MW and 56,41 MW of installed power, respectively.
