The Government of Minas Gerais, through Emater-MG (Rural Technical Assistance and Extension Company), has opened a call for applications to register rural producers who may benefit from the installation of micro photovoltaic plants.
The measure aims to support the recovery of properties affected by the collapse of the Fundão Dam and benefit more than 1.500 properties in 36 municipalities in the region, with the goal of reducing energy costs and promoting the development of sustainable productive activities.
To be eligible, the property must be located within 100 meters of the flood zone, have a regularized CAR (Rural Environmental Registry), and not pay a minimum electricity tariff.
The entity reported that it will be responsible for providing the necessary equipment for the installation of the plants, including photovoltaic modules, inverters, mounting structure, cables, connectors, and junction boxes.
Applications for the first beneficiaries can be made until Thursday (18), and new selections will take place throughout 2026. The list of beneficiaries will be published monthly on website from Emater-MG.
According to Otávio Maia, CEO of Emater-MG, the project is part of the actions foreseen in the Rio Doce Reparation Agreement, signed in 2024, and its main objective is to offer a sustainable and low-cost energy alternative for farmers.
