A I'm Energy began manufacturing profiles in GRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester) intended for fixing photovoltaic panels.

According to the company, this material is similar to that used by NASA as part of the structure of modules in space stations and stands out for its durability and resistance.

With this initiative, Sou Energy stated that it became the first in Brazil a develop and manufacture profiles specifically designed for the photovoltaic market in this material, allowing it to be used on roofs as well.

“GFRP offers a number of significant advantages over conventional materials such as aluminum and steel. In addition to being 75% lighter than steel, it provides greater safety, quality and savings for solar energy systems”, he explains. Mario Viana, commercial and marketing director at Sou Energy.

“It is worth mentioning that our profiles are designed specifically for the solar energy sector, come with a 25-year warranty and are now available to integrators throughout Brazil in our online store”, he highlights.

Still according to him, GRP profiles can be cut or drilled without compromising their useful life, unlike steel, for example. Furthermore, the material does not conduct electricity and does not oxidize, which contributes to operational safety and return on investment.

“We are very excited about the launch of GRP fixing structures by Sou Energy. This innovation represents a significant milestone in the Brazilian solar sector. We are offering a high quality option that promotes, above all, savings in solar energy systems”, highlights Kleber Pinho, CEO of Sou Energy.

“In addition, Sou Energy’s current production capacity and our expansion plans will allow us to meet growing market demand. We are proud to be pioneers in this initiative and to contribute to the advancement of solar energy in the country”, he adds.

Sou Energy's production capacity

Today, the company's current production capacity allows it to meet 1 GW of installed panel power, and the company plans to double production by the end of 2024.

Also according to Sou Energy, the factory has machinery in Brazil, capable of producing 3,7 kilometers of structure per year, which would be enough to cross the Atlantic Ocean and connect Fortaleza to Africa.
