São Paulo surpassed Minas Gerais and became, for the first time, the Brazilian state with the largest volume of installed power em solar energy in the segment of GD (distributed generation). This is what data collected by the Canal Solar next to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Altogether, the São Paulo municipalities somam 276,2 thousand systems photovoltaic with 2.437 MW of installed capacity, while the miners count 220,3 thousand Connections with 2.434 MW.

This is first time since 2016 that Minas Gerais lost its leadership to another location in the country. Since the state took first place overall, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul alternated second place in the ranking over the years.

Em 2022, the state of São Paulo was the one that added the most power installed in solar energy in the distributed micro and minigeneration segment in Brazil, with more than 1.161 MW, a number greater than that of Minas Gerais (840 MW).

States with the highest installed power in solar DG in Brazil.

Em January 2023, scenario repeated itself, with São Paulo accumulating just over 114,2 MW in installed solar DG capacity in the first month of the year. Already Minas Gerais ended January in fourth place, with 68,5 MW, behind Rio Grande do Sul (76,3 MW) and Paraná (75,2 MW).

According to integrators and associations, in addition to the growth of the source in São Paulo's municipalities, another reason that could explain Minas Gerais' departure from leadership would be the fact that the state may be experiencing saturation in the network's capacity to absorb new connections.
