Was the solar sector prepared for Covid-19?

During the pandemic, the company invested heavily in social media

Given the way the crisis turned out, the immediate answer is no! Nobody was.

The pandemic is, without a doubt, the most challenging moment for the company’s businesses. Aldo Solar and most companies operating today. If a company is not part of the demands that are being most requested, such as the health sector, it is possible that it is suffering from the restrictions imposed by social isolation.

A slightly deeper analysis reveals that Aldo has always been prepared not only for crises, but for growth as well.

Part of this preparation is based on the company's own history. Since its founding, Aldo has gone through countless economic plans (some promised true miracles), inflation (in some periods, increases came from the morning to the afternoon) and everything else that people can imagine.

Financial planning, associated with the belief in keeping the business focused, without discouragement, allowed the company to survive the setbacks of Brazilian economic history and grow. The distributor became an expert in making delicious lemonade from any lemon. Financial planning is essential for the health of any company and has always been a fundamental point.

A foundation since the days of the Kombi. Many sacrifices were made so that the company had reserves and cash flow to support its growth and possible crises. Aldo is conservative in terms of financial planning and innovative. Audacious indeed, in commercial actions.

During the pandemic, the company invested heavily in social media and, as a characteristic of this practice, interaction, even via the internet, led to the perception that business did not stop. They were in regions where social isolation measures were not so restrictive, or there were businesses in place. Anyway, for some it was easier.

An example of a sector that is suffering, but has not stopped growing because of the pandemic, is the solar energy sector, one of Aldo Solar's main fields of activity. In fact, as part of the strategy to resist the crisis, several webinars were held on the subject and the equipment made available in Brazil by the distributor. The company hopes that resellers and installers have taken advantage of the last few months for training, because the numbers don't lie and the solar energy sector is growing in the country.

The photovoltaic market continues to grow exponentially in the country. Last month, Brazil surpassed the 6 GW mark of operational power from photovoltaic solar sources. The number considers large plants, small and medium-sized systems installed on roofs, facades and land.

According to ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), the source has already generated more than R$ 31 billion in private investments in the country, creating around 180 thousand cumulative jobs. And in distributed generation, Brazil surpassed the 3 GW mark in the market.

The advancement of solar sources in the country was driven last year by smaller systems, generally installed by consumers on the roofs of homes and commercial establishments or on large plots of land.

Aldo has a very significant share in the sector. The company has already surpassed the mark of 86 thousand generators sold and continues with the policy of obtaining the best prices in direct negotiations with the largest suppliers in the world and always counting on the best resellers and installers in Brazil, the company's customers. In this first half of the year, Aldo's IT business division also grew 30%.

Four months ago, the concept of what will pass was very distant, but now it appears closer to reality. The idea is still in the field of speculation, but the theory that the solar energy sector could have a major role in the recovery of the country's economy, after the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, is becoming increasingly strong.

The solar source still represents less than 2% of the Brazilian electricity matrix, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), that is, there is still a lot of room for growth. And Aldo wants to not only be part of, but encourage this growth. Important for the solar energy segment and important for the country.
