TikTok confirmed this Wednesday (3), during an event in Fortaleza attended by the President of the Republic and federal and state authorities, the implementation of its first data center in Latin America.
The infrastructure will be located in the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex, in Ceará, and marks the arrival of one of the largest private projects ever planned for the state. The investment plan exceeds R$ 200 billion, a figure that includes R$ 108 billion earmarked for the purchase of advanced equipment until 2035.
According to the company, the timeline anticipates the first phase to be operational in 2027, with an estimated generation of approximately 4 direct jobs between construction and the start of operations. “This project is a decisive step in expanding our contribution to the Brazilian digital ecosystem,” stated Monica Guise, Director of Public Policy at TikTok in Brazil.
The executive explained that the project combines technological innovation, socioeconomic impact, and sustainability, elements that are "essential for strengthening the community's and institutions' trust in the venture," he emphasized.
The project will also have repercussions on the energy infrastructure. Casa dos Ventos will be responsible for developing new wind and solar farms exclusively for supplying electricity to the facility.
“The new plants dedicated to the project add clean capacity to the national energy matrix, guaranteeing energy security without putting pressure on the existing system. It is a milestone for Ceará and for the future of sustainable infrastructure in Brazil,” said Lucas Araripe, the company's CEO.
The data center will also feature international closed-loop cooling solutions, based on recirculation and optimized water use, combined with air-cooled systems and high-efficiency equipment. This technology reduces water consumption and minimizes the environmental impact associated with thermal management processes.
