Trina Solar has just reached a milestone in the photovoltaic industry. Its latest tandem module, which combines layers of perovskite and silicon, achieved a power output of 808 watts in tests carried out by the TÜV SÜD certification laboratory.

The result positions the equipment as the first module with a global industrial standard to exceed 800 W, according to an announcement by the company's National Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology.

Developed on a 210-millimeter silicon wafer and with an area of 3,1 square meters, the panel reflects the advancement of tandem technologies — which combine different semiconductor materials to capture more spectrums of sunlight, significantly increasing energy efficiency. The manufacturer has not released additional technical information at this time.

Innovation in the global competition for efficiency

The 808W mark represents a significant step forward in the race for more powerful and efficient photovoltaic solutions. Tandem modules, especially those using perovskite, have been touted as the next technological frontier in the industry, offering new possibilities for large-scale and commercial projects.

Fierce competition between giants

The advance of Trina This comes amid strategic moves in the sector. The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) recently published the list of companies pre-qualified for its module bidding in 2025, with an expected acquisition of around 9,6 GW.

Among the 20 selected suppliers are names such as Trina Solar, Longi Green Energy, Jinko Solar and Risen Energy. The bidding division covers different technologies, including TOPCon, BC and HJT. Longi scored the best in five of the six segments, while Risen led in the heterojunction segment.
