The Vertex 670 W photovoltaic module, with 210 mm cells, produced by Trina Solar, passed the extreme wind tunnel test.
During the experiment, carried out by Trina Solar in conjunction with CGC (China General Certification), the product remained intact even when the air speed reached 216 km/h.
“The result confirms that the ultra-high power modules maintain excellent performance even when subjected to extreme weather conditions, including those that characterize a category 4 hurricane, on the international Saffir-Simpson scale”, stated the manufacturer.
The trend towards globalization of photovoltaic applications, with the increasing diversification of environments where equipment is installed, has resulted in more demanding performance requirements.
For this reason, the market has given preference to modules resistant to strong winds and other climatic situations.
Trina reported that Trina Solar's Vertex 670 W module underwent, among other improvements, a series of design optimizations, as well as increased robustness of the structure, which included the use of more resistant materials.
“With regard to photovoltaic cells, in particular, the industrial non-destructive cutting process gives the 210 mm units greater flexibility, in addition to significantly increasing their resistance to hidden cracks”, informed the company.
