On January 24th, the São Pedro plant was inaugurated, located in the municipality of Bom Jesus da Lapa-BA. The municipality of Bom Jesus da Lapa has gained prominence in the solar industry scenario in Brazil, with some of the largest solar power plant projects in operation in the country.

With an installed capacity of 67.1 MW, the project originated in an energy contracting auction held in 2015. The company responsible, Atlas Energy, began construction in 2017.

The project was financed by Banco do Nordeste (BNB). Solar projects financed by state banks generate jobs and income in Brazil, as this type of project requires a minimum index of national components.

Furthermore, the construction and operation of solar plants generates temporary and permanent jobs. The company responsible for the construction left as a legacy a set of daycare centers and social development programs.
