TIM, in partnership with Enel X Brasil, announced the start of work to build two solar plants, located in Ibititá and América Dourada, in Bahia.

The expectation is that the plants, available to the telephone operator for a period of 15 years, will be in operation in the second half of this year.

Combined, all of the company's projects, some in development since April 2020, will have more than 24 thousand photovoltaic panels and will serve 716 of the company's antennas in Coelba's concession area.

This is the largest power generation project for an Enel X customer in Latin America, and will have a capacity of 9,919 MWp.

“The business of building distributed generation plants continues to be one of the focuses of Enel X's strategy in Brazil, and the Northeast region has stood out in the development of projects of this type, thanks to the abundance of natural resources, such as sunlight, throughout the year”, said Francisco Scroffa, responsible for Enel X in Brazil.

“Renewable sources are important not only to promote cost reduction, but, mainly, to meet a growing demand from society as a whole for clean energy, ensuring the preservation of the environment and the population’s quality of life”, highlighted Bruno Gentil , the company's Chief Business Support Officer.

TIM and Enel X bet on solar energy

Currently, the operator has 34 solar, hydro and biogas power plants in operation and intends to reach 60 units in 2022, with monthly generation of 38 GWh.

In 202, TIM ended the year with 74.5% of its energy consumption from renewable sources and aims to reach more than 90% by 2025.

Enel X, with the construction of DG (distributed photovoltaic) generation plants for TIM, reached 27.1 MWp in solar energy projects aimed at industrial customers.
