Initiative made the academy capable of hosting international games

A Techset Tennis Academy, a tennis academy located in Vogue Square, which is located in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), invested R$ 490 thousand in an energy efficiency project that included the installation of a solar plant with an installed power of 78.48 kWp and the replacement of the lighting on the eight courts with LED lamps.

With the initiative, Techset managed to obtain a reduction in its electricity bill and qualification to receive the games from ITF (International Tennis Federation).

Partner of the Brazilian Tennis Confederation, Techset hosted the German team during the Davis Cup, where they trained Alexander Zverev, TOP 3 in the world. In addition to tennis, the academy also has a dance school, gym, martial arts center and physiotherapy. And an electricity bill that was around R$ 30 thousand per month.

To reduce this bill, the Tesch Energia, accredited by Renew, carried out an energy feasibility study in order to eliminate the gym's energy bill. The most economical – and also sustainable – solution was to opt for the installation of a photovoltaic plant, which also made it possible to change the lighting to LED lamps, making the academy capable of hosting international games.

“This type of project requires high energy expenditure. We carried out an entire energy analysis to be able to project zero consumption on the electricity bill. The savings that solar will bring made it possible to install lighting using LED lamps, bringing an additional gain to the project”, he explained. Lucas Schuler, commercial director of Tesch Energia.

Techset's solar plant has 144 monocrystalline 545 Wp panels from JA Solar It is two 30 kW Renovigi inverters. Gustavo Müller Martins, CEO of Renovigi, highlights the growth of solar energy among individuals and small and medium-sized enterprises, mainly in the sports sector.

“We have observed an increasing adherence among sports entrepreneurs in the search for renewable energy sources, both for savings on electricity bills and for environmental reasons. Concern for the environment is an important value for those who deal with sport, long before the ESG”, he commented.

Marco Aurélio Alencar, founder of the academy, is satisfied with the investment, which included financing of 50%. “This project is fundamental for the modernization of the academy, not only for the savings it will provide, but also for sustainability. As a high-performance gym, we need to be aligned with the environmental values of the 21st century”, he commented.

Techset has eight courts – six clay courts and two synthetic courts – and specializes in training high-performance athletes, from the grassroots level, with a school, to the training of professional athletes.
