Santa Catarina and the fifth state in distributed solar energy generation with around 1.3 MW, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency). With a thriving economy, in addition to being a reference in sustainability, it is the largest exporter of pork in the country.

Among the 295 municipalities in the state, in the West region, is Cunha Porã, which has just over 11 thousand inhabitants and a total of 227 photovoltaic systems. Among the installed plants is one located in rural property of Leandro Muller and Valdir Schubert, which advocates family farming.

Sized to generation of 478 kWh per month, the plant, installed by Oestenergy company from Santa Catarina, count with eight 540W bifacial modules from JA Solar It is two microinverters from APsystems.

“In the last twelve months, the monthly average generation was 584 kWh, equivalent to 20% more than projected performance”, highlights Maicon Cesar Heinzen, after-sales supervisor at Oestenergy.

Another positive characteristic corresponds to the MLPE (Module Level Power Electronics) technology, which, according to him, is the perfect combination to optimize the module's energy production.

For the JA Solar Brasil engineering team, panels with this cell size (182mm) and this power range are the best choice in projects that use microinverters, since the power adapts better to the microinverter input, in addition to the size and weight of the modules being smaller.

“Since the beginning, Oestenergy has always strived to offer customers the best on the market. The partnership with JA Solar has been truly rewarding. The solar panels not only met, but exceeded our expectations,” points out Giovani Fioreze, co-owner of the company.

Choose the bifacial

According to Heinzen, there is a discourse that bifacials are not worth it and many integrators encourage the choice of monofacial. “I did a lot of research to understand the difference between technologies and I preferred not to work with mono anymore. Since then, we have prioritized bifacials from JA Solar.”

“We have another case, where two neighbors are our clients. Both feature APsystems technology combined with six JA Solar modules. The first with monofacial modules facing North – a position where there is better use – and the second with bifacial modules where part of the installation is facing East and the other is facing West, less favorable positions in relation to the previous one that may even reflect loss between 12% and 20%,” he explains.

Oestenergy's after-sales supervisor also adds that the study project, at certain times of the year, manages to perform better than monofacials positioned to the North. For him, the advantages of bifacials are indisputable, supported by brand security.

“JA Solar is among the four best in the world, both in terms of presence and certifications. Also, the product is very well accepted by the installation team, it is an aesthetically beautiful, robust module, easy to handle and logistics, with superior results compared to other major brands on the market”, he emphasized.

“We strictly control the entire process of R&D (Research and Development), acquisition, production, testing, shipping and transportation to ensure that your products are of the highest quality,” highlighted Fernando Castro, country manager Brazil at JA Solar.

Market expansion

Of the 17 projects installed by Oestenergy combining the two technologies, only two were monofacial and three were installed on the ground. The combination, in terms of performance, efficiency and energy gain, is the combination of JA and APsystem modules. There are already more than a thousand panels from the manufacturer installed by Oestenergy and the forecast is to double this by December. The products were made possible through Ecori.

Oestenergy plans, for the second half of this year, expansion to Três Passos, in Rio Grande do Sul. Currently, the largest share of projects is for agribusiness (80%), followed by investment plants (15%), residential projects (3% ) and industrial with the participation of 2%.

In Brazil since 2015, the JA Solar office is located in Jundiaí (SP) in the Maxime Office Tower building and has more than 10 professionals in the areas of sales, marketing, engineering, warehousing and RMA (Return Merchandise Authorizations) support.
