Amazonas launches tourism incentive program with solar energy

O Government of Amazonas, through Amazonastur (State Tourism Company), launched the Program “Amazon Shines”, which initially distributed 253 solar panel kits for remote communities that have the tourism as the main source of income.

The term for the public call of accreditation of interested parties was signed, in this Thursday (16), in São Sebastião do Uatumã – a city that is 247 km from Manaus.

“We are coming here to deliver the first solar energy kits to remove the electricity generator, which consumes fuel”, he explained. Governor Wilson Lima.

One of the community members who received one of the solar energy kits was Aguinaldo Ribeiro, owner of a guesthouse in the RDS (Sustainable Development Reserve) Uatumã, who before solar panels depended on the use of generators for energy. 

“We are very happy to receive this kit, which will bring income and savings to us. Furthermore, the solar panel does not make noise like the generator, and will no longer disturb tourists,” he said.

To participate in accreditation, anyone interested in purchasing the solar kit must meet the criteria in the call notice and may request up to five solar panels.
