André Pepitone will leave his position as general director of ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) to take over as the new financial director of Itaipu Binacional.

The information was released by the Minister of MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), Bento Albuquerque, in an interview with CNN this Sunday (6).

According to the minister, the confirmation of Pepitone as the plant's new financial director took place last week, in a meeting.

Albuquerque also said that the nomination will begin to be processed in the next few days and will still be approved by the Eletrobras board of directors.

The position on the plant's board of directors became vacant after President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) appointed Vice Admiral Anatalicio Risden Junior as the new Brazilian general director of Itaipu, at the beginning of January.

Pepitone is a career civil servant and has served on the board of ANEEL since 2010. His term as general director of the entity ends on August 14. To take his place, the Federal Government nominated Sandoval Feitosa, who still needs confirmation from the Senate.

Feitosa is a long-time employee of ANEEL, having started his career at the Agency in 2005 as a regulatory specialist for the entity. He also carried out technical audit activities in energy distribution and transmission concessionaires in SFE (Electricity Services Inspection Superintendence).

Still at ANEEL, in 2014 he held the position of advisor to the Agency's board of directors. In 2015, he assumed the position of superintendent of regulation of transmission services and in 2017 he became superintendent of inspection of electricity services.

At the beginning of 2018, he was also appointed to the position of director of the entity, and representing the Agency, he served as director of ABAR (Brazilian Association of Regulatory Agencies), from 2018 to 2020.
