A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) maintained the fine of R$ 165.8 million to Enel São Paulo, after the distributor had the appeal rejected this Tuesday (09).

A traffic ticket occurred because of the blackout that reached the capital of São Paulo in November last year It is broke off the supply of services. Around 25% of customers in the region were left without power.

In February this year, the Agency fined the company because it understood that the Enel failed to respond and it took a long time to restore power. The distributor then asked for the fine to be annulled, claiming that the winds were atypical and that it worked as quickly as possible to get services back up and running normally, but the appeal was denied.

The winds cited by the distributor reached up to 105 kilometers per hour and impacted supply to millions of consumers in the capital of São Paulo and the metropolitan region. The interruption lasted up to a week in some regions.

The technical area of ANEEL claimed that the penalty is being applied for the delay in restoring the service and not for the incident itself. The Agency highlights that the increase in the maintenance team only happened on the Monday after the event, which took place on Friday, November 3rd.
