A ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) approved this Tuesday (21) a new readjustment in the values of tariff flags. A The biggest increase was in the value at red flag level 1 (63,7%).
The yellow flag will increase 59.5%, and the red flag level 2 will increase 3.2%. The green flag is the only one that has not been readjusted and will continue without the extra charge. The new values come into force from July 1st and will be valid until mid-2023.
You approved values were above those initially placed in public consultation. According to the Agency, the change was necessary to include some parameters in the calculation of values.

Yellow Flag: value increases from R$ 1.874 to R$ 2.989 for every 100 kWh consumed (+ 59.5%);

Red Flag 1: value increases from R$ 3.971 to R$ 6.500 for every 100 kWh consumed (+ 63.7%);

Red Flag 2: value increases from R$ 9.492 to R$ 9.795 for every 100 kWh consumed (+3.2%).
The review of flag values takes place annually, normally in the middle of the year. It is worth remembering that the “water scarcity” flag it was extinguished in May of this year. The modality was created to come into operation exceptionally between the months of September 2021 and April 2022 in order to minimize the impacts of the water crisis in the country.
Since the water scarcity flag was extinguished, the country has been under the effect of the green flag, which, according to Aneel, should remain in force until the end of the year due to the good recovery in the level of Brazilian reservoirs. The Agency, however, does not rule out charging the extra fee from 2023.
Distributors
ANEEL also approved this Tuesday (21) the annual tariff adjustment for five electricity distributors. The increases come into effect this week (on different days) and impact around 17.3 million consumer units.
The biggest increases approved were at two Energisa Group distributors: Nova Friburgo (19.2%) and Minas Gerais (13.4%), which together serve more than 500 thousand consumer units.
Both adjustments came into force this Wednesday (22) and the items that most impacted the correction of the two companies were sectoral charges and energy purchase costs, according to the Agency.
ANEEL also approved the annual readjustments in the company's energy tariffs Cemig (5.22%), from Copel (1.58%) and the RGE South (8,41%).
Headquartered in Belo Horizonte, Cemig serves 8.8 million consumer units in the state of Minas Gerais. Of the components that most impacted this process, sectoral charges and activities related to energy distribution stand out.
The same reasons also justify the adjustment approved in relation to Copel, which serves around 5 million consumer units in Paraná.
In the case of RGE Sul, which provides services to 3 million consumer units in Rio Grande do Sul, in addition to sectoral charges and distribution costs, another item that impacted the correction was the removal of financial components established in the last tariff process.
According to ANEEL, in all the cases mentioned the adjustment would be greater if it were not “mitigated” by factors such as the transfer of R$ 5 billion obtained from the privatization of Eletrobras, in addition to the return of ICMS and the application of resources from the Account Water Scarcity.
