ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency) transferred on Wednesday (15) R$ 400 million to CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber) to cover tariff discounts granted to consumers benefiting from the social tariff.
MP (Provisional Measure) 950/2020, published by the Federal Government last week, determined a discount on the 100% tariffs for the portion of electricity consumption of up to 220 kWh/month for beneficiaries of the social tariff. Furthermore, it authorized the Union to transfer resources to cover these discounts due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In parallel, MP No. 949 was also issued, which added an extraordinary credit of R$ 900 million to ANEEL's budget and determined that the agency should contribute this resource to the CDE (Energy Development Account) to subsidize the authorized discounts.
In negotiations with CCEE, manager of the CDE Account, ANEEL divided the transfer into three monthly installments, the first being R$ 400 million paid on Wednesday, the second installment will be paid in May in the amount of R$ 250 million and in June it will be paid the latter worth R$ 250 million.
