According to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), the tariff flag for the April month 2023 will remain green. With favorable conditions for generation in the country, signs indicate that there will be no additional cost on consumers' energy bills, a scenario that has remained since April 2022.
The green flag, valid for all SIN (National Interconnected System) consumers, reflects the improvement of hydroelectric reservoir levels, benefiting from the rainy season. The SIN is the network of electrical energy transmission lines that connects plants to consumers.
ANEEL updates the projections for the activation of the tariff flags and, with the data collected so far, it considers the activation of the green flag to be highly likely for the entire year 2023.
Favorable scenario
According to ANEEL, the abundant supply of resources of hydraulic origin has provided favorable conditions for energy production in the country.
On March 28, 2023, the SIN reached the level of 85.1% of storage and the country's main reservoirs still show an upward trend, given the maintenance of hydraulic energy input at equally high levels.
The forecast is that the wet period will end with a high degree of storage in hydroelectric plants (levels close to 90%). This condition brings an optimistic perspective to the composition of energy supply also during the dry period.
