O Brazil overcame, this Tuesday (25), the brand of 21 GW of capacity operational in solar energy, including large plants (6.7 GW) and own energy generation systems (14.38 GW).

The new level has been reached after the entry into operation of new GC plants (centralized generation) and around 20 days after the source have reached the brand of 20GW, on October 5th, saccording to ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

Only in 2022, The solar generation photovoltaic grew more than 52% in the country: jumping from 13.8 GW on January 1st to the current 21 GW.  Much of this growth came from G.D. (distributed generation), which totals more than 4.9 GW accumulated.

This is the largest annual volume in history of the sector, surpassing the 4.48 GW recorded throughout the twelve months of 2021, according to ANEEL.

One of the issues that help explain the expansion of GD in less than 10 months is the creation of Law No. 14,300, which foresees changing the compensation criteria for consumers who request connection to the network from 2023 onwards.

The segment of GC (centralized generation) this year records a growth of more 40%, with more than 2 GW added to the SIN (National Interconnected System). In January there were 4.63 GW of operational power compared to the current 6.7 GW.

In addition to the plants in operation, the Brazil also has more of 67.7 GW awaiting entry into operation through projects with construction already started or not yet started, according to ANEEL.

According to forecast made by ABSOLATE (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association), the country should close 2022 with about 25 GW of installed capacity in solar energy, with at least 17.2 GW in GD and another 7.8 GW in GC.

Paraná reaches 1 GW in its own generation

Paraná became, this Monday (24), the fourth state in the country to surpass the mark of one GW of solar power installed in its own energy generation systems. The location joined Minas Gerais (2.2 GW), São Paulo (1.8 GW) and Rio Grande do Sul (1.5 GW).

In around a year and a half, the state practically doubled its capacity, going from 500 MW in March 2021 to the current 1 GW. In total, there are already more than 91.7 thousand systems installed, with the residential consumption class being the predominant one, with 67.4 thousand connections.
