Around 50% of photovoltaic systems in the world use Stäubli connectors

According to the manufacturer, this number represents more than 400 GW of installed solar power

More than 400 GW of installed solar energy power in the world uses Stäubli's MC4 connectors, according to Willian Mass, sales coordinator at Stäubli.

Also according to Mass, this number corresponds to approximately 50% of the photovoltaic energy capacity installed in the world.

“This number highlights the reliability, highest quality and market acceptance of our products. They guarantee proper functioning throughout their useful life, which can easily exceed 25 years, defy harsh environmental influences and have a positive impact on the financial viability of photovoltaic projects”, highlights Mass.

The German company uses a mixture of polycarbonate and nylon in the production of its conductors, which is more resistant to bad weather and long-lasting.

MC4 type connectors were developed by the Swiss company Multi Contact, currently part of the Stäubli group. At first they competed with Tyco Solar Lock, dominant in the North American market, while MC4 grew in the European market, and soon gained preference in the world market.

“A connector must provide perfect mechanical and electrical fits, guaranteeing a connection with low electrical loss, with high durability and safety”, comments Marcelo Villalva, specialist in photovoltaic systems.
