Chesf (Companhia Hidro Elétrica do São Francisco), one of the largest transmitters in Brazil, energized this Tuesday (12) the fourth bank of 500kV/230kV high voltage autotransformers at the Teresina II Substation, located in the capital of Piauí.
The investment was around R$ 33 million. With this, the National Interconnected System for energy transmission between regions was reinforced.
Currently, this substation is one of the most important for the transmission of electrical energy produced by large hydroelectric plants in the North throughout the country.
According to Chesf, the work prevents overloading of the units, in the event of an occurrence, which allows for more reliable energy supply, with an increase of 30% of power in the Chesf system.
“We are delivering this work 11 months in advance of what was foreseen in the authorization from the National Electric Energy Agency. With this, Chesf is showing its competitiveness in the market, efficiency and focus on business sustainability, totaling an annual revenue of R$ 5.7 million per year”, highlighted the Director of Engineering, Reive Barros.
Investments of more than 40 million by Chesf are planned in other Transmission projects in Piauí to be delivered by 2023. “Chesf's main facilities are in the Northeast and our focus is to expand our generation and transmission capacity, contributing to the development of the country ”, stated the director.
