Claro opens solar energy plant in the interior of SP

The telephone company Clear inaugurated, this Thursday (15), a solar power plant with installed capacity of 6.3 MW of power in the municipality of Tanabi, in São Paulo.

The installation was delivered in partnership with RZK Energy and is part of “Energia da Claro” project.

Together, the two companies have already been responsible for delivery of four other photovoltaic plants, two in the Federal District and two others also in the interior of São Paulo).

The project also delivered two biogas-powered plants (in the metropolitan regions of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo) and a hydroelectric plant (in Mato Grosso).

According to Claro, All these plants have a total installed capacity to generate 36 MW of energy from renewable 100% sources.

The operator also reported that the Tanabi solar power plant he must avoid the emission of more than 1 thousand tons of CO² per year. 

“Claro is committed to reducing the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere and we are committed to becoming practically self-sufficient in energy from clean sources”, says, in a note, Hamilton Silva, the operator's Infrastructure director.

The project

Implemented in 2017, the 'Energia da Claro' program supplies the company's operations in Brazil through partnerships for the construction of power plants. G.D. (distributed generation). The initiative also includes the purchase of clean energy on Mercado Livre, under long-term contracts.

According to Claro, the program will generate the equivalent of 80% of the energy consumed in all of the operator's operations and facilities in the country, through various renewable sources, such as solar, wind, hydroelectric and biogas.

Currently, the 70 plants that are part of the initiative already supply more than 20 thousand consumer units and serve more than 60% of Claro's antennas with renewable energy.
