A Colibri Capital and the manufacturer Tongwei announce the signing of a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for distribution of solar panels in the North and Northeast regions of Brazil, in addition to Minas Gerais. The agreement applies to both GC (centralized generation) and DG (distributed generation).

“In our growth trajectory, we understood that there was an opportunity for the distribution of equipment in Brazil. Therefore, we sought partners in China to close an entire chain of global suppliers of modules, inverters and batteries to supply our energy production network, and also for consumers and integrators in general”, he says. Carlos Eduardo Barros, president of the Colibri Group.

According to the executive, the agreement with Tongwei is essential for Colibri's project to expand its own production of clean energy, by guaranteeing the supply of panels and modules for group companies and also an important step towards the verticalization of the structure, dominating the entire solar energy generation chain

“Amid negotiations with Tongwei, the opportunity arose to also make an agreement with Sirius, which is a large distributor in the regions North and Northeast. In this way, we were able to organize a partnership with a large global supplier and a vast distribution network at once”, states Barros.

For Tongwei, the agreement with Colibri is considered strategic, as the company had already been looking for partners in the Brazilian photovoltaic market. “We see Brazil as a great partner for China in the clean energy sector and in companies’ commitment to improving quality of life. The agreement with Colibri reaffirms Tongwei's mission to become a world-class clean energy operator, within a country that has enormous potential and where solar energy is growing rapidly,” he says. Luiz Eduardo Sobreira, responsible for Tongwei's operations in Brazil.

The first Tongwei products that will become part of the Colibri portfolio will be the 625 W+ modules, lighter and intended for installation on roofs and long and narrow coverings, the 710W+, more robust and with greater energy productivity, and the 715 W+, with less energy loss caused by microcracks, less internal resistive loss and a more aesthetic appearance.

Currently, the group Colibri turns over R$ 200 million per year, has already attracted around R$ 1 billion in investment and established a solid presence in the solar energy and agroforestry segments. The business structure, made up of companies such as E1 Energia, Eco Soluções, GDSolar, Biolux and, more recently, Sirius, has contributed significantly to sustainable development, with 100 operational solar plants and agroforestry cultivation on 100 hectares.

Already the Tongwei group is listed on the Shanghai stock exchange and one of the 500 largest energy companies in the world, according to Forbes Magazine, is one of the largest wafer producers and one of the five largest module manufacturers across the global market.

With an approach focused on research and development, intelligent manufacturing and promoting high-efficiency photovoltaic module applications, Tongwei has a planned production capacity of 63 GW and operates in four major production bases in China.
