Commerce and services sectors accelerate expansion of the Free Energy Market

A CCEE (Electricity Trading Chamber) disclosed, this Wednesday (17), a balance of consumer adhesion to the Mercado Livre de Energia, highlighting the commerce and services sectors.

The easing of access criteria from January drove an acceleration in the number of migrations, with 5,360 consumers joining the segment in the first quarter of this year.

According to the CCEE, the Migrations were led by trade segments (1.544) and services (1,328), followed by the various manufactured goods (642) and food (632) sectors.

Of the consumers who entered the ACL (Free Contracting Environment) in the first quarter, 72% are retail customers, benefiting from the MME Ordinance No. 50/22 (Ministry of Mines and Energy), which expanded access to Mercado Livre for all companies connected in medium and high voltage this year.

You states in the Southeast and South led to migration in the first quarter of 2024. São Paulo is at the top of the list, with 1,731 new consumers in the environment, followed by Rio de Janeiro (563) and Rio Grande do Sul (480).

O Free Energy Market ended the month of March with 43,540 consumer units, an increase of 10 thousand compared to 12 months earlier, representing 38% of national consumption. 

Second data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency), approximately 19.3 thousand consumers expressed to distributors desire to migrate to the free environment throughout 2024, in addition to 650 orders for 2025.
