The year 2022 is widely recognized as the year of the energy storage industry, and the residential storage sector is also known as the “apple of the eye” of this industry.

The main driving force behind the rapid growth of residential storage comes from its ability to improve the efficiency of self-consumption of electricity and reduce costs.

With the energy crisis and subsidy policy, the market recognized the gains provided by residential photovoltaic storage and the demand for this type of system began to explode.

At the same time, in the event of a power outage in the power grid, batteries can also provide emergency power to maintain household electricity supplies.

With the numerous energy storage products for domestic use on the market, the choice has become a complicated matter.

Careless selection can lead to solutions that are inadequate for real needs, higher costs and even potential security risks that endanger people's safety.

So, how do you choose a home storage system that’s right for your needs?

What is residential photovoltaic energy storage system?

The residential photovoltaic system with storage uses photovoltaic modules to provide electricity during the day. Excess energy from the solar modules can be stored in the storage system for use during peak hours or at night.

What are the components of residential storage systems?

The core of a residential storage photovoltaic system consists of a solar source, battery and hybrid inverter. RENAC Power's residential single-phase/three-phase solutions cover the power range from 3 kW to 10 kW, providing customers with more options and comprehensively satisfying different needs.

Photovoltaic energy storage inverters cover single-phase/three-phase, high/low voltage products: N1 HV, N3 HV and N1 HL series. The battery system can be divided into high voltage and low voltage batteries according to voltage: Turbo H1, Turbo H3 and Turbo L1 series.

Furthermore, RENAC Power also has a system that integrates hybrid inverters, lithium batteries and controllers: the all-in-one series of integrated energy storage machines.

How do I choose the right home storage product for me?

Step 1: single-phase or three-phase? High voltage or low voltage?

Firstly, it is necessary to understand whether the residential electricity meter is single-phase or three-phase. For single-phase power supply, a single-phase hybrid inverter must be selected. If the power input has three phases, three-phase or single-phase hybrid inverters can be selected.

Compared with residential low-voltage energy storage systems, REANC's high-voltage energy storage system has more advantages.

In terms of performance: using batteries with the same capacity, the battery current of the high voltage storage system is lower, causing fewer losses in the system, increasing efficiency and reducing installation costs.

In terms of system design, the circuit topology with high voltage hybrid inverter is simpler, smaller in size, lighter and more reliable.

Step 2: Is the capacity large or small?

The power of hybrid inverters is typically determined by the power of the photovoltaic modules, while the selection of batteries is highly selective.

In self-use mode, under normal circumstances, the battery capacity and inverter power are proportional to a ratio of 2:1, which can ensure load operation and store excess energy in the battery for emergency use .

The RENAC Turbo H1 series battery bank has a capacity of 3.74 kWh and is installed in a stacked manner. Single package volume and weight are small, easy to transport, install and maintain. Supports five battery modules in series, which can expand capacity to 18.7 kWh.

The Turbo H3 series high voltage lithium batteries have a single battery capacity of 7.1 kWh / 9.5 kWh. They adopt a wall- or floor-mounted installation method, with flexible scalability, supporting up to six units in parallel, and a capacity that can be expanded to 57 kWh.

Furthermore, they feature a plug and play design, with automatic assignment of parallel IDs, ease of operation and expansion, and can save more installation time and labor costs.

Turbo H3 series high voltage lithium batteries use CATL LiFePO4 cells, which have significant advantages in terms of consistency, safety and low temperature performance, making them the preferred choice of customers in low temperature regions.

Step 3: beautiful or practical?

Compared to systems that use many separate components, the all-in-one machine is more aesthetically pleasing. The all-in-one series adopts modern and minimalist style design, integrating it into the home environment and redefining the aesthetics of home clean energy in the new era.

The smart integrated compact design further simplifies installation and operation, with a “plug and play” design that combines aesthetics and practicality.

Furthermore, RENAC's residential storage system supports multiple operating modes, including self-consumption mode, consumption time shift mode, backup mode and EPS mode, for example, to achieve intelligent energy scheduling. for residents, balance the proportion of self-consumption of electricity to reduce electricity bills, as well as offering backup function.

Self-consumption mode and EPS mode are the most used in Europe. VPP/FFR application scenarios are also supported, maximizing the value of home solar and batteries, and achieving energy interconnection. At the same time, it supports remote updating and control, changing the operating mode with one click, and can control the power flow to any extent.

When choosing equipment, users are advised to select a professional manufacturer with comprehensive photovoltaic energy storage system solutions and energy storage product production capabilities.

Hybrid inverters and batteries of the same brand can perform more efficiently and solve the problem of system matching and consistency. They can also respond quickly after-sales and quickly resolve practical problems.

Compared to purchasing inverters and batteries from different manufacturers, compatibility is not always perfect. Therefore, before installation, it is necessary to find a professional team to design specific residential photovoltaic energy storage solutions.

As a leading global provider of renewable energy solutions, RENAC Power focuses on providing advanced distributed energy, energy storage systems and smart residential and commercial energy management solutions.

With more than ten years of experience in the sector, innovation and strength, RENAC Power has become the preferred brand for energy storage systems in more and more homes.

  1. Without a doubt, the technological alternatives of hybrid inverters with greater battery autonomy and maximum operating capacity represent good news and will increasingly put pressure on the price of KWh supplied by electricity concessionaires, as well as on its accessibility, safety and quality. Brazilians pay one of the most expensive energy sources in the world, in contradiction to an extremely diversified matrix. The heart of this issue is the exorbitant interest that increases this cost. The solution to this problem is not trivial, as the ICMS charged by the States of the Brazilian Federation make a preponderant contribution to their annual budget, with a focus, above all, on health and education charges, the latter with a minimum percentage set out in our Magna Carta. Finally, the voluptuousness of technological innovations in this field is extraordinary. May it be so and remain for the good of the country and the sustainability of Mother Nature.
