With investments about R$ 4 billion, O Janaúba Solar Complex he was opened in the municipality of the same name, in the interior of Minas Gerais, this Monday (03).

O enterprise - what is administered by Elera Renováveis - he has generation capacity of 1.2 GWp, enough to supply just over 1 million homes.

In total, the complex has 20 solar parks located in a area of 3 thousand hectares, the equivalent of around 4,300 football fields.

The choice of the city of Minas Gerais to build the project is due to the strong levels of irradiation and low cloud cover, which is considered by the multinational to be one of the best regions for generating solar energy in the country.

In total, they were installed 2.2 million photovoltaic modules. During the works on the complex, 11 thousand jobs, around 70% of which come from residents of the Minas Gerais region itself.

Centralized generation

Currently, the Brazil is close to reaching the 10 GW mark operating power of large solar plants, according to data from ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).

According to the regulatory body, there are already more than 18.1 thousand photovoltaic projects of centralized generation in operation in the country and which together have already been responsible for adding 9.63 GW to the YES (National Interconnected System).
