Distributors see an increase in net profit in Q3 2020

Copel and Equatorial Energia register growth of 10.9% and 22.9%, respectively

Copel (Companhia Paranaense de Energia) and Equatorial Energia released their financial results for the third quarter of 2020.

Between July and September, Copel achieved a net profit of R$ 680.4 million, an increase of 10.9% compared to the same period last year, when it reached R$ 613.5 million.

Another highlight was EBITDA – a financial indicator that shows the potential for cash generation – which reached R$ 1.2 billion, an increase of 28.3% in the annual comparison.

Net operating revenue in the quarter was R$ 4.329 billion, an increase of 3.6% compared to the previous year.

Regarding the financial result, Copel reported that it was positive, at R$ 46.95 million, compared to a negative value of R$ 126.7 million between July and September last year.

Equatorial Energy

Equatorial Energia's net profit also showed solid results in the third quarter of this year. The company announced that it obtained R$ 607 million, an increase of 22.9% compared to the same period in 2019.

EBITIDA reached R$ 1.2 billion in 2020, an increase of 13.7% compared to July and September last year.

The highlight of the quarter was Equatorial Pará, with an increase of 6.7%, followed by Equatorial Maranhão, growing 4.6%.

In relation to the first nine months of this year, Copel ended the period with gains of R$ 1.4 billion, an increase of 35.6%.

In contrast, the company's net operating revenue was R$ 4.2 billion, a drop of 13.7% compared to the same period last year.
