EDP, the electricity distributor in Espírito Santo, continues to help combat the pandemic. After donating 3.4 thousand basic baskets for needy families in the state of São Paulo, it announced another partnership.

The company donated more than 8,500 PFF2/n95 masks to the Hospital Maternidade São Camilo, in Aracruz (ES). The protective items will be intended for professionals working on the front lines in the fight against coronavirus.

The equipment – which has a filtering power superior to that of surgical masks and is recommended to stop viruses spread by aerosols – was delivered on Wednesday (26) by João Brito Martins, vice-president of distribution at EDP in Brazil, and Wellington Lozer Giacomin, executive director of the institution.

“Hospitals are under a lot of demand during this crisis. Therefore, EDP once again stands alongside the state of Espírito Santo and its population. Hospital São Camilo carries out very important work for the region and we hope that this resource will provide greater security in providing care to the population of Espírito Santo”, stated Martins.

“More than the financial importance of the donation, the expression of concern and affection we received from renowned companies, such as EDP, adds not only to the hospital's services, but also to the motivational factor. It shows that we are all united in favor of a common interest: preserving and saving lives”, highlighted Giacomin.

More initiatives

Since the beginning of the pandemic, the company has allocated more than R$ 2.5 million to support actions for public authorities and state entities in the fight against Covid-19. Last April, for example, it donated 60 beds.

In addition, I already give away 4,250 digital portable finger oximeters, used to measure blood oxygen saturation. Such equipment is being distributed to municipalities in Espírito Santo with the aim of strengthening PHC (Primary Health Care).
