EDP will invest almost R$ 6 billion in solar energy in Brazil by 2025

Investments at the source are part of the company's strategic growth plan in the country

Of the R$ 18.2 billion that the EDP Group intends invest in Brazil until 2025, about R$ 5.7 billion will be injected for the development of solar power generation projects, according to company.

Based in Portugal, the group has achieved, over the last four years, a valuation of 57% in operational and structural assets in Brazil, totaling just over R$ 40 billion in assets – EDP's second largest operation in the world. 

You investments planned until 2025 are part of the strategic plan from the company for the growth of the brand in Brazil. Currently, the company serves around 3.3 million customers in São Paulo (1.8 million) and in Santa Catarina (1.5 million). 

According to the group, the potential for solar energy generation in Brazil is enormous, which makes the source one of the strategic pillars for the company's growth in the country, through EDP Brasil and EDP Renováveis.

EDP Brasil operates in the energy generation, transmission, commercialization and distribution segments. EDP Renováveis, on the other hand, operates in the development, construction, operation and maintenance of solar assets. 

In Brazil, the two companies have relied on the complementarity of their expertise to implement projects in partnership, as is the case of the large solar plants in Novo Oriente, with an installed capacity of 254 MWac, and Monte Verde, with 209 MWac.
