Eletrobrás plans 

Currently, Eletrobras already produces green hydrogen in a pilot project at the Itumbiara hydroelectric plant, located on the Paranaíba River, between the municipalities of Itumbiara (GO) and Araporã (MG).

The Brazilian company, however, is evaluating using its huge portfolio of hydroelectric plants to provide energy for the development of renewable fuel projects, such as green hydrogen. 

According to the company, hydroelectric plants allow hydrogen projects to have very competitive costs, as the source provides stable energy without the intermittency of other renewable sources, such as solar and wind.
