Company operates highways with solar power and stops emitting 166 tons of CO²

To the photovoltaic plants in operation in roads and operational units administered by Interviews they are avoiding The annual issue of more than 166 tons of CO² in the atmosphere – the equivalent of planting more than 1.25 thousand trees.

Currently, the renewable source is used by the concessionaire to supply toll plazas and the 356 monitoring cameras of the logistics corridor under the company's concession. 

Solar energy is also used to guarantee the operation of all posts on the Wi-Fi network (where highway users contact the company in case of emergency) and to keep radars and traffic analysis equipment working.

According to Entrevias, the technology installed has capacity for generate approximately 2.2 MWh, an energy potential capable of supplying around 1,200 homes and recharging more than 100 electric cars.

“Solar energy enables the efficient operation of all highway equipment that provides important information, in addition to full-time monitoring, through which we activate all resources. All of this generates more precision in serving users”, explains Jorge Baracho, operations manager at Entrevias.

Investment

In total, Entrevias installed 4,818m² of photovoltaic modules on the roof of its units, distributed across eight toll plazas, four general inspection posts (where trucks are weighed), at the CCO (Operational Control Center) and at the company's headquarters, in Sertãozinho (SP). 

In the area, which is equivalent to 37 volleyball courts, both the on-grid system as the off-grid. O investment total amount carried out by the company to install the technology was approximately R$ 4.5 million.  

Recharging for electric vehicles  

Recently, the Entrevias also implemented one pilot project which provides points of quick recharge supply for electric vehicles on highways under the company's concession using solar panels. 

According to the company, the charging stations must work linked to some operational support bases, as today around 125 thousand vehicles travel daily through the company's concession system.
