Enel Brasil will allocate R$ 33.4 million reais to finance the implementation of 15 energy efficiency initiatives in the states of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

The projects were selected in the 2022 Public Call for Energy Efficiency Projects and aim to promote sustainability to reduce the value of the electricity bill.

Of the 15 projects selected for São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, 10 involve the efficiency of public and private buildings and five are public lighting initiatives.

São Paulo

In São Paulo, among the institutions benefiting from the Public Call is the AACD (Association for Assistance to Disabled Children) which will receive approximately R$ 3.7 million for the installation of 552 solar panels.

In addition, the resources will be used to replace 1,662 old light bulbs with LED models and improvements to the chilled water plant, which include replacing the air conditioning unit.

For projects aimed at the public sector in São Paulo, R$ 3.4 million will be allocated to the Amador Aguiar Hospital and Maternity Hospital, in Osasco, and to four elementary schools in the municipality.

The resources will be used to install a solar plant with 560 photovoltaic panels and the implementation of 1,106 lamps and 66 air conditioning units.

UFABC (Federal University of ABC) will also benefit, with an investment of R$ 3 million, destined for the installation of 468 photovoltaic panels and the replacement of more than 12 thousand light bulbs and 18 air conditioning units.

In public lighting, Ribeirão Pires City Hall (SP) will receive an investment of R$ 3.8 million to replace 3,104 lamps with LED models.

Rio de Janeiro

In Rio de Janeiro, R$ 800 thousand reais will be allocated to the public lighting project in the cities of Cantagalo and Macaé.

An initiative involving energy efficiency will also be carried out at SAAE (Autonomous Water and Sewage Service), located in Angra dos Reis. Three motors will be replaced with models with lower power and higher efficiency, in addition to replacing 35 luminaires with LED models.

“By making a public commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda, Enel, through its energy distributors, directly promotes energy efficiency, boosting SDG number 7, which consists of ensuring reliable energy , sustainable, modern and at an affordable price for all consumers”, says Claudia Guimarães, responsible for Sustainability and I&N projects at Enel Brasil.
