Data published by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), an agency linked to the American government, reveals that energy production through photovoltaic solar systems grew more than 100 times in the period 2008-2018.
These numbers take into account the energy generated by large photovoltaic parks and distributed generation systems.
Other renewable energy sources showed more modest growth, wind power, for example, occupied second place with a 5-fold growth.
Photovoltaic energy generation has exploded in the last decade, and if these growth rates are sustained, its share in the energy matrix of the United States will triple in five years, reaching a representative 7%.
According to published data, renewable sources will soon surpass nuclear sources in energy generation.
