Solar energy is the source with the highest growth forecast for 2022

The source's participation in the energy matrix should reach the 4% mark this year, according to the MME bulletin

O Brazil should have a significant increase in the share of renewable sources at energy matrix, mainly due to the continued growth of sources such as solar photovoltaic and wind

This is what the data collected by the Solar Channel, based on information released by the new MME Monthly Energy Bulletin (Ministry of Mines and Energy), published in the early evening of this Wednesday (17).

According to the study, an increase of 3% in the OIEE (Internal Electric Energy Supply) is expected for 2022, with renewable energy sources responsible for more than 84% in the Brazilian electricity matrix.

Among all sources listed, solar is the one with the highest growth forecast for the year: 60% in relation to 2021 – a percentage of growth above that predicted for other sources, such as wind (12.2%), hydro (5.28) and biomass (4.87%).

The excerpt from the document also shows that other polluting sources of energy should also have their participation in the matrix reduced by the end of the year, with emphasis on coal plants, which should suffer a drop of more than 40% compared to 2021.

Energy produced from nuclear and industrial gas plants should remain at the same percentages as at the end of last year. Check out the table below:

Monthly Energy Bulletin

The Monthly Energy Bulletin is a product of the DIE (Department of Information and Energy Studies), the SPE (Secretariat of Energy Planning and Development) of the MME (Ministry of Mines and Energy), which aims to monitor a set of energy variables and non-energy sources capable of allowing a reasonable estimate of the monthly and accumulated behavior of Brazil's total energy demand.
