The Minister of Infrastructure, Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas, was one of the guests of honor at the Energyear Brasil 2022, held this Wednesday (9) and Thursday (10), in São Paulo (SP).

After speaking, the judge gave an interview to the Solar Channel and guaranteed the Union's commitment to the photovoltaic sector.

“There is a lot of investment that will be generated. We will become less and less vulnerable to climate issues, like what we experienced last year,” he said, referring to the water crisis.

According to Freitas, around R$ 130 billion should be invested in the solar DG (distributed generation) segment alone, according to estimates from PDE (Ten-Year Energy Plan) 2031.

The document predicts the penetration of approximately 35 GW of installed solar power at the end of the ten-year horizon, in 2031. In other words, an increase predicted by the Government of 26 GW in relation to the current 9 GW.

“Last year, we had an increase of almost 4 GW of capacity in distributed generation and we should have, from now on, year after year, 5.6, 7 GW. This represents a lot for a country that experienced vulnerability due to a water crisis,” he said.

Despite the estimates contained in the PDE 2031, the minister stressed that he believes the numbers could be even higher. “Due to the speed with which the investments and the load that is being added to the system, perhaps we will exceed this expectation that is being made”, he highlighted.

At the end of the event, Freitas also met with representatives from Huawei Digital Power. According to the Chinese manufacturer, the conversation was intended to strengthen relations. Representing the company at the meeting were Mason Qing (president), Humberto Cravo Neto (vice-president) and Bruno Guerra (global accounts director).
