O average watt-peak price (Wp) for solar energy registered drop of 10% in the second quarter of this year in comparison with the first.

The information is part of the newest study by Solfácil Radar, an indicator that evaluates consumer behavior and performance of solar energy systems in Brazil.

The numbers presented indicate that the average cost fell from R$ 4.02 per Wp at the end of March for R$ 3.63 per Wp at the end of June, in the biggest drop ever recorded by Radar Solfácil.

The decline was driven mainly by factors such as reduction in the value of the dollar It's from polysilicon on the international market. The raw material is the main material used by the photovoltaic industry to manufacture solar panels.

Among Brazilian states, only Amapá did not see a reduction in the price of WP in the second quarter. The region, however, is the one with one of the most competitive values in the national market.

According to the study, the region Midwest was the one with the biggest average price reduction, around 12%. In contrast, the region North was the one with the most expensive average cost in the country, with R$ 3.75 per Wp.

In the region North East, Radar Solfácil highlights that, despite above-average prices, the geographical conditions make the location one of the most advantageous regions to invest in solar energy.

“All states had a reduction of at least 9% between the first and second quarter of 2023, with Sergipe being the state with the biggest drop in price in all of Brazil, of 23%”, highlights the study.

The region Southeast, in turn, became in this second quarter the second lowest price per Wp in Brazil, with an average of R$ 3.60.

The region South became more expensive than the Southeast and Northeast, being the location with the greatest diversity in the choice of inverters, with Goodwe, Deye and Growatt sharing the first position. In other regions of the country, one brand always predominates over the others.
