The Profarma Group entered into a partnership with GreenYellow to supply 5.4 GWh annually for 20 years. The announcement was made this week.

According to the energy multinational, around 9,000 panels will be used to build three photovoltaic plants – which will supply 147 of the 200 D1000 Varejo Farma stores, totaling 73% of points of sale.

The project will cover all 72 units of the Drogaria Rosário network (region served by CEB, in Planaltina, DF), 34 of Drogarias Tamoio (region served by Enel RJ, in Itaperuna) and 41 of Drogasmil (served by Light, using the plant in Seropédica, RJ).

“With the efficient management of clean energy, we will avoid the emission of more than 600 tons of CO2 into the environment, thus minimizing the impact on our operations”, said Deborah Birmarcker, president of the Profarma Institute for Social Responsibility.

“Profarma has always been a company with a strong commitment and performance in social initiatives, and now we are taking another important step in adopting strategies for the use of renewables, moving towards sustainable management, both from a financial and of the environment”, he added.

The Itaperuna solar farm is already connected to the distributor, and the expectation, according to Roberto Zerkowski, CEO of GreenYellow, is that by the end of the first half of the year, all plants will be connected.

“It is very important for us to support large groups in their energy transition, without forgetting the financial benefits that the initiatives can bring,” added Zerkowski.
