O Brazil is very close to surpassing the 1 million jobs generated by the solar energy in the distributed and centralized generation segments, show data released by ABSOLATE (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy) on Wednesday night (12).
Since the beginning of the expansion of the source in the country, in 2012, there have been more 960.5 thousand new jobs created by the source, with more than 240 thousand in the first six months of this year alone – an increase of more than two times compared to the 102.4 thousand admissions made in the same period in 2022.
The numbers presented by the association also reveal that the solar energy has also been responsible by attracting more than R$ 155.6 billion in investments to Brazil, with R$ 34 billion in 2023 alone.
The source also capitalized more than R$ 45.1 billion in tax collection for public coffers and prevented more than 40.6 million tons of C02 stopped being issued in the last eleven years, thus contributing to a more sustainable world.
Currently, in terms of operational capacity, there are more than 32 GW of installed power in Brazil. Of this amount, 22.5 GW comes from own generation systems and another 9.63 GW from large solar plants.
