One study published by IEA (International Energy Agency, in English) pointed out that the solar capacity he must triple in size between the years of 2022 and 2027 In all the world, growing by 1.5 TW and surpassing coal as the largest source of power capacity.

In your report “Renewables 2022”, the Agency highlighted that it expects a acceleration of rooftop installations residential and commercial, with global additions of 170 GW per year until 2027.

The report also assesses that the margin of growth of renewable energy on the planet is today 30% higher than last year's forecast, with the Photovoltaics responding for 60% all expansion of renewable capacity.

That increase is driven by the decarbonization policies adopted by China, which will be responsible for producing half of the world's new renewable energy over the next five years.

It is even expected that solar energy will surpass hydroelectric energy and become the largest installed renewable capacity in the Asian country by 2023, with an increase of almost 1,070 GW, of which 90% would come from solar and wind energy.

The IEA also increased its forecast for the USA by 25%, assessing that the North American country is able to increase its renewable energy capacity by 270 GW between 2022 and 2027, due to the approval of its new incentives.

In relation to European countries, the implementation of solar energy could be even faster if the continent chooses to reduce licensing deadlines, improve auction projects and incentive schemes to accelerate the installation of photovoltaic systems on residential roofs.

If this is done, implementing these policies could increase the growth of clean sources on the continent by up to 30%. “Renewables were already expanding rapidly, but the global energy crisis has thrust them into an extraordinary new phase of even faster growth as countries seek to capitalize on their energy security benefits,” said IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol .
