A Salvador City Hall and the Neoenergia Coelba signed a partnership for the construction of five photovoltaic plants. Two plants will have a capacity of approximately 100 kWp each, installed at the BRT Hiper and BRT Cidadela stations, and another three plants with a generation capacity of approximately 45 kWp each, at the CMEIs Castro Alves, Luís Eduardo Magalhães and União Boca do Rio.
According to an agreement signed, the municipal departments of Education and Mobility will provide physical spaces and minimum infrastructure in the benefited buildings, while Neoenergia Coelba will provide all the technology and specialized labor. Investments will be around R$ 1.5 million.
The resources used to execute the partnership are part of the Neoenergia Coelba Energy Efficiency Program, regulated by ANEEL (National Electric Energy Agency).
The expectation is that, from the start of operation, the equipment should generate savings of up to 90% in electricity costs in these locations. The technical cooperation agreement was signed between the Municipal Management Secretariat and Neoenergia Coelba, with the consent of the managers of the other departments.
“The cooperation term arises from negotiations between the secretariat and Neoenergia Coelba, aiming to reduce the City Hall's consumption bills, promoting the use of energy through clean and renewable sources, in addition to the benefit in donation and consumption, which can achieve 90% reduction in amounts paid. This term is aligned with the Salvador Solar Program, which encourages the use of photovoltaic solar energy in the city”, explains Hugo Damasceno Ferreira, Services Manager at the Municipal Management Secretariat.
The project had the participation of the Municipal Department of Sustainability, Resilience, Welfare and Animal Protection.
According to Ana Christina Mascarenhas, superintendent of Energy Efficiency at Neoenergia, the installation allows part of the energy consumption of BRT stations and municipal schools to be produced in a clean, renewable and sustainable way, helping the municipality and the environment.
“Neoenergia has as one of its pillars of action the efficient and clean use of electrical energy. We also have an annual goal of helping public bodies reduce consumption in their buildings”, highlighted Ana.
“Upon receiving the request from Salvador City Hall to install the panels, the distributor has already started feasibility studies, aiming to encourage the use of energy sources from renewable sources. The analysis then found that these five units could receive solar panels and generate clean energy to carry out their functions”, he concluded.
