The state of Ceará, through Seinfra (Infrastructure Secretariat), opened a tender for the installation of photovoltaic modules in 32 state public schools. The submission of proposals from interested parties took place last week.

The planned investment will be R$ 9.1 million from FIEE (Energy Efficiency and Distributed Generation Incentive Fund of Ceará), which aims to encourage energy generation, based on renewable sources, and how to increasingly seek efficiency of energy use, modernizing the State's electrical installations.

According to the state, technical criteria were used to choose institutions, such as greater consumption and return on investment.

“The Department of Education will be our partner in this project. We understand that there would be no better environment to begin this culture change, stimulating the generation of energy based on renewable sources, than public schools, due to their transformative and multiplier power. The savings generated on energy bills will return the investment in three, four years, on average”, commented Lúcio Gomes, Secretary of Infrastructure of Ceará

“Actions like this reinforce the State’s commitment to encouraging, attracting and expanding clean and sustainable energy generation initiatives. Furthermore, bringing energy efficiency to public buildings means reducing electricity costs”, highlighted Adão Linhares, executive secretary of Energy and Telecommunications at Seinfra.

The systems will be installed according to the schedule established by Seinfra, based on a proposal presented and approved by the FIEE Management Committee, scheduled to start later this year and be completed in 2022.

Ceará Judiciary invests in solar energy

The Judiciary of the state of Ceará has started procedures to use solar energy in its buildings. Judge Washington Araújo, president of the TJCE (Court of Justice of the State of Ceará), has already approved a bidding notice for the supply of a photovoltaic system to produce energy to be used in buildings belonging to the TJCE.

With the system in operation, the forecast is that R$ 2.7 million will be saved per year, according to the energy consumption already observed in the Judiciary units.

Solar energy in Ceará

According to data from ABSOLAR (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy), Ceará occupies ninth place in the national ranking of distributed solar generation and leads the Northeast region with the highest installed power in this modality.

The photovoltaic systems in operation in the state are currently present in 173 municipalities in Ceará, which represents 94% of the state's municipalities. There are 9,094 electricity consumers who already have a reduction in their electricity bill and greater autonomy and electrical safety.
