The sector of solar energy has already moved more than R$ 142 billion in investments in the segment of distributed micro and minigeneration since the beginning of the expansion of the source in Brazil, with some states standing out more than others in this regard, according to data from ABSOLATE (Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association).

The entity's numbers show that together four Brazilian states – São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná – total more than 40% of the total volume of investments performed nationally: around R$ 66.3 billion.

You municipalities in São Paulo are those that received the most contributions since the beginning of the expansion of distributed and centralized generation plants in the country, totaling R$ 19.7 billion.

“São Paulo is currently an important center for the development of solar energy. Photovoltaic technology represents a huge potential for generating jobs and income, attracting investments and collaborating in the fight against climate change”, said Pedro Drumond, state coordinator of ABSOLAR in the State.

Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná, in turn, appear next, respectively, being – together with São Paulo – the only states in the country with more than R$ 10 billion in investments in own generation of solar energy.

Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina, Bahia, Goiás, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso do Sul are also highlights, with investments that already exceed R$ 5 billion in each of the states.

With contributions who stay between R$ 1 billion and R$ 5 billion, there are Federal District and ten other states: Alagoas; Ceará; Holy Spirit; Maranhão; Pará: Pernambuco: Piauí; Large northern river; Rondônia and Tocantins.

With less than R$ 1 billion in investments carried out in photovoltaic distributed generation, the states of Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Roraima and Sergipe.

In evaluating Rodrigo Sauaia, executive president of ABSOLATE, you numbers presented for each of the Brazilian states only highlight the growth of own solar energy generation across the country.

“Brazil has an immense opportunity to use solar energy in social programs, such as popular housing through Minha Casa Minha Vida and the universalization of access to energy through Luz para Todos, as well as its use in schools, hospitals, police stations, libraries, parks, among others, helping to reduce governments' electricity spending so that they have more resources to invest in health, education and other societal priorities,” he said.

  1. Demand is excellent here in our region. But financiers must facilitate access (for individuals and small and medium-sized companies) and in relation to the very high interest rates charged by a certain group of three banks that monopolize this segment, “it is easier to buy a car than to install a solar system ” and the interest rates are lower to buy a vehicle. Sorry for the rant!!!!!
If I were to list the benefits of Solar Energy “I will write a book here”. Therefore, bringing energy independence to people is cheap, especially the people of the Amazon rainforest who sometimes have electricity for 3h to 6h daily.
Solar Amazon “The Sun is for Everyone!”

  2. Unfortunately, in Minas Gerais, Cemig is going against solar in its own interest, solar in Minas is dying…

  3. The growth of photovoltaic installations in the country's states could be even greater if we publicize our Planet's need to reduce the production of pollutants!
