A survey carried out by CMSE (Electricity Sector Monitoring Committee) showed that, in the first half of 2023, Brazil raised R$ 750 million from the export of electricity to neighboring countries.

Only with exports from hydroelectric surpluses were around 880 MWmed, with 75% destined for Argentina and 25% for Uruguay. With this, the country achieved a benefit of R$ 665 million, stated the CCEE (Electric Energy Trading Chamber).

Exports from thermoelectric plants reached 560 MWmed, with 82% destined for Argentina and 18% for Uruguay. The benefit, in this case, was R$ 86 million in favor of regulated consumers.

Regarding the conditions of electrical energy service, the ONS (National Electric System Operator) highlighted that, in July, rain was recorded above the historical average values in the basins of the Jacuí, Uruguay and Iguaçu rivers, leading to the occurrence of flow in the southern region of the country .

Furthermore, according to the ONS, in July there were several SIN (National Interconnected System) records. Photovoltaic solar generation, considering microgeneration and distributed minigeneration (MMGD), reached 5,317 MWmed on a monthly average (7.7% of load). Records were also recorded in wind generation, whose monthly average was 13,606 MWmed (19.7% of load).

As presented in the Committee, the month of July ended with the best storage conditions in the SIN in history: Southeast/Central-West with 84%, South with 94%, Northeast with 79% and North with 92%.

Additionally, the ONS, EPE (Energy Research Company) and CCEE completed the 2nd Quarterly Review of Load Forecasts for the period from 2023 to 2027.

The survey will be incorporated from the PMO (Monthly Operation Program) of September, with a forecast of average GDP growth of 2.2% per year (aa), with a consequent estimated effect on the load of 3.3% aa

Regarding prospective studies, the ONS predicts favorable conditions for electroenergy service, with SIN storage varying between 58.7% and 80.3% at the end of January 2024.

The ONS also presented the PEN (Annual Energy Operation Plan), covering the 2023 and 2027 horizon, which should be published by the end of August.
