A Diageo, one of the largest alcoholic beverage manufacturers in the world, opened a new factory with the use of solar energy in the municipality of Itaitinga, in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza (CE).
On site, the company is carrying out investments for the development of Ypióca cachaça, which was acquired by the brand 11 years ago.

O new space count with 1,826 photovoltaic panels, with a capacity of 931.26 kWp. The technology also corresponds to 90% of the electricity that powers the unit.
In total, investments were R$ 250 million in the enterprise, with the direct offer of 400 jobs.
The new factory was delivered last week and was attended by the governor of Ceará, Elmano de Freitas (PT).

The new liquid production and packaging unit is part of an industrial complex with approximately 90,000 m2, with 23,000 m2 of built area.
The factory currently has the capacity to produce 12 million nine-liter boxes of cachaça per year and is one of Diageo's most relevant investments in the last decade.
According to the company, the space will also allow the expansion of the operation of other brand labels.
