O ONS (National Electric System Operator) reported that the region North East it hit seven records in the generation of solar energy during the first fortnight of the month of July.
The most recent milestone was reached last week, July 13th, when instantaneous photovoltaic generation reached 6,597 MW, equivalent to 53.3% of the region's demand.
This amount exceeded the 6,478 MW produced in July 12th, which represented around 52% of northeastern demand. In this same day, the power of the sun had also reached 2,248 average MW, or 19% of demand.
Before that, average solar generation in the region had two other important records: 2,060 average MW in 4th of July and 2,211 average MW in July 11.
Regarding instantaneous solar generation, the Northeast region reached the mark of 6,469 MW for the first time on the day July 10, while in 4th of July there was a record for average solar production in the SIN (National Interconnected System), with 5,752 average MW.
Wind energy
The first fortnight of July was also favorable for wind energy, with five records broken in the Northeast region. On the 3rd, the ONS recorded an unprecedented instantaneous generation rate of 17,135 MW at 11:59 pm.
Less than 24 hours later, this level was surpassed, reaching 18,401 MW, at 10:41 pm on July 4th, corresponding to 149.1% of the region's demand at that time. The record in average wind generation in the Northeast was also confirmed on July 4, with 16,453 average MW.
In the SIN, two marks were reached, both also on July 4: instantaneous wind generation, with 19,720 MW measured at 10:55 pm, representing 27.8% of demand at the time, and average wind generation, with 17,110 average MW.
